Two hammers to a bag. Otherwise it would be a bag of Hammerers. This very question was documented in the 1972 debate between George "Puffin" McGee and his esteemed opponent Jim D. Diddle from Alabama.

George tried to cast an unfavorable light on Jim's intellect but the Mercury quick Diddle gave the above answer and ran away with the election...until he was accused of cattle mutilation three weeks later and hung himself and a bovine that happened to be at hand.

I'm with Vic, you only need two Hammers in your bag. Mainly because the only Hammers I can think of are Mike Hammer and MC Hammer. I would absolutely LOVE to put the two of them in a big burlap sack and see who emerges.

The burlap sack.

Why do you ask questions you already know the answers to?
